Sex That Has Lost Its Meaning
"We live in a world where losing your phone is more dramatic than losing your virginity." (1) Isn't funny how true that quote is? People have put aside the consequences of having sex out of wedlock. The meaning of sex is doesn't matter to people anymore. The thought in most peoples head is that; "having sex is no big deal, I'm young, I'm just having some fun." What would a world look like that waited to have sex until marriage? Sex is a beautiful thing, it creates an unbreakable bond between two people and can give life. In this generation teens and adults are giving sex away like it's a piece of gum and it needs to come to a stop.
What is the big deal with having sex out of wedlock? Having sex with more than just one person can have lots of problems with it. One in four teen girls has an STI (Sexual Transmitted Infection). Having sex isn't all pleasure and having fun, there are consequences in it as well. Studies have been made that say one in every five teenage girls will become pregnant during high school (4). Other studies also say that 4 million teens contract an STD each year (6). The days while being a teenager aren't about being a parent and raising a child while that person still is one. You only have one chance at being a teenager, but the rest of your life to be a parent.
Virginity is the most precious thing someone can give to their spouse. Once it's lost there is no getting it back, something so precious shouldn't be lost in a thoughtless way. Sex creates an unbreakable bond between two people, they become one. That unbreakable bond should only be made with the person you intend to marry. That bond can create life, one of the worlds greatest joys. I personally don't know because I don't have a child but I have a four year old brother that I've watched grown up. Years down the road when I am ready, I can't wait to have a child.
It’s not surprising that people are so horny all the time. Sexual themes are everywhere. It is in the movies that we watch, the music that we listen to, on the internet, in magazines, just about everywhere you look there are themes of sex and sex and sex around. If people lost focus of what the media's idea of sex is and waited until marriage to have sex the world would be a lot better off. There would be a lot less teenage pregnancies. STDs would be spread a lot less with people only having sex with their spouse and not with a number of people.
In today's generation sex is given away so freely by teenagers and adults and that needs to end. Sex is an amazing part of life but it can also come with a price while being thoughtless. What does losing your virginity really mean? How precious is it? How is the media in volved by portraying sex and what kind of world would we live in if things were different?
